Friday | 8:30am - 12:30pm
Services Provided: Rental/Mortgage/Utility Assistance, Family Shelter, and Respite:
Rental/Mortgage/Utility Assistance: This program aims to prevent homelessness by helping clients pay for their rent/utilities.
Family Shelter: Almost Home has a family shelter.  The shelter is unique, as it is a residential home. Each family will have their own room rather than share a communal area. The Family Shelter program allows complete families to stay together as they work to find stability. The stays are 60 days; during these 60 days, Almost Home helps the clients locate jobs and assist with resume help and housing for long-term stability. Once the family graduates from the program, they will help get them into housing and pay for the upfront costs, such as deposit and first and last month's rent.
Respite: This program is for those who are housing-ready. This means the client has a stable income and can meet the requirements of the apartment/house they apply for/intend to use. Respite will help with the upfront costs like the deposit and the first and last month's rent.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Rental/Mortgage/Utility Assistance: The client needs to be at least two months behind on their rent. If the amount owed is over $4500, Almost Home will not be able to pay the total amount. Almost Home can only pay up to $4500, and the client is responsible for the rest of the amount owed. They prioritize those who are already in evictions.
- Family Shelter: Almost Home runs background checks on every adult entering the home. They do not allow those who have a conviction on their record.
- Respite: This is an in-house referral; the client must come to our office to apply for this assistance.
Application/Intake Process:
- For both Rental/Mortgage/Utility Assistance and Almost Home’s Family shelter, the application can be found on our website on the home page.
- For their Respite program:  This is an in-house referral; the client must come to our office to apply for this assistance.
The application for rental assistance is only open every 1st of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  The link for the application will not work if  you click it outside of it's open time frame.
Wait time: Please provide at least 2 weeks before reaching out to staff at Almost Home after you've submitted your application. They do not get a status update on submitted forms but will process each submitted form in a timely manner.
