The program states that I must be a first-time or first-generation homebuyer. How does CEDP define these terms?
First-time homebuyer: You qualify if any of these are true:
- You haven’t owned a principal (main) home in the last 3 years, OR
- You are a single parent or displaced homemaker (someone who stayed at home to care for family) and the only home you’ve owned was with an ex-spouse, OR
- The only previous home you owned was a mobile or manufactured home that was not permanently attached to the ground, OR
First-generation homebuyer: You are the first in your family – or in the United States – to purchase a home.
