Arapahoe County Rental Assistance

Utility Assistance Resources:
- Colorado’s Low-income Energy Assistance Program. LEAP is a federally funded program that helps you pay a portion of your winter home heating costs if you’re eligible. You should apply for and be approved for LEAP from November 1 – April 30.

Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC)
- If you are past due on your utility bill, disconnected, or facing disconnection, you may qualify for help with gas, electric, or alternative fuel bills.

PIPP Referral (for households not past due):
- If your household is not currently past due on your energy bill and you are not eligible for other referral programs, you can apply directly for a PIPP referral.
- Simply create an account and complete the application.
- Energy Outreach Colorado will send your information to your utility to check if you qualify for PIPP. To be eligible, your household income must be below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Colorado Energy Office Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
- The Weatherization Assistance Program helps you receive free insulation and efficiency upgrades that help your home use less energy overall if you are income-qualified. Apply for WAP by visiting the Colorado Energy Office website.
Public Utilities Commission’s (PUC) Utility Bill Help Program
- If you are not qualified for or are denied from one of the above programs, you can apply for the PUC Utility Bill Program during LEAP season (November 1 – June 30).
- This is not an emergency program as it does not provide a credit towards your utility bill, but if approved, it will refer you to the utilities for possible enrollment in PIPP to lower your monthly utility costs. Apply for the Utility Bill Help Program by visiting the PUC website.
Food Resources:
- Delivers hot, nutritious meals Monday through Friday to seniors and home-bound adults living in south metro Denver. The program also offers frozen weekend meals and a weekly delivery of ready-to-eat/easily prepared breakfasts. A contribution towards the cost of meals is requested for those who are able, but no one is turned away for an inability to contribute.
- If you or someone you know might benefit from having meals delivered directly to your door, call 303-798-7642 or visit the Nourish Meals on Wheels website.
- Clients can contact them via phone at 303-789-0501 to make an appointment. They are open regular hours https://www.ifcs.org/about-us/hours-of-operation/ however, they are unable to accommodate walk-in clients at this time. Food will be distributed using a drive-through service where Food Market staff will send a prepared box of food to the client via a conveyor belt out to the parking lot. Case Managers will administer financial assistance programs remotely, submitting paperwork on-line or via fax.

Denver Metro Emergency Food Network
- Delivers within a 15-mile radius of Denver. The Denver Emergency Food Network delivers free, prepared meals to homebound families and elderly individuals in need during the COVID-19 crisis.
