CERA - Monthly vs. Daily Random Selection - What's the difference?
Coloradans who have received an eviction notice may be eligible for Colorado Emergency Rental Assistance. The purpose of this article is to help you understand how both CERA random selections work. The CARE Center does not make the guidelines for the state program. There is limited funding capacity for new applications.
Depending on the most recent legal documents you have received, it is possible to be on both the monthly and daily selection lists at the same time, but we cannot add or renew anyone to be on the daily list while the monthly portal is open.
Monthly Random Selection (CERA website)
The monthly random selection is a random selection that happens once a month. You are eligible if you have not received funding from a state program like ERAP, TRAG or CERA in the last 24 months. You would need an eviction notice (a rent demand or higher) in order to submit a pre application. Please note that this is a random selection so you just have to submit an application when the portal is open and before it closes. You may only submit one application per household because if you submit two your application may not be considered. You can find the dates for the next Monthly random selection pre-application opportunity here: https://doh.colorado.gov/emergency-rental-assistance

Daily Random Selection(CARE center)
In order to be on the daily random selection you would need a court summons or more and the CARE center would need to verify that document before you can be added. The guidelines are the same as the monthly in that if you have received funding from a state program like ERAP, TRAG or CERA in the last 24 months you would not be eligible to be on the daily random selection. You would also be required to have an email address because you would receive emails every day letting you know whether or not you were selected to complete an application during that day's selection (weekends and holidays excluded). You will be on the daily random selection list for 2 weeks. If two weeks have passed and you have not been selected, you will be removed from the waitlist and you will be notified to call us back to be added back to the list, if assistance is still needed.
