Additional Information: Currently, they do not have any lawyers on staff but have volunteer lawyers who join for events & educational trainings. They have a Legal Services Manager in their office who can assist with regular consultations regarding citizenship applications. All services are sliding scale and will be charged based on the client’s income. Even if the client has no income, they can still receive discounted assistance. Services Provided: Casa de Paz welcomes guests who are released from the immigration detention center in Aurora, CO. They provide them a safe temporary space to go to so they can connect with their loved ones and make travel arrangements on to their final destination. Unfortunately, we are not a shelter or a housing facility and we cannot accommodate families or individuals for a long or short period of time. Eligibility Criteria: We do not assist people that are not released from the detention center in Aurora.
Application/Intake Process: There isn’t a formal intake/application process as they specifically assist clients released from the ICE detention center. They wait and pick up clients whenever they are released and provide services starting from that point.
The Immigrant Legal Center of Boulder County
The mission of the Immigrant Legal Center of Boulder County is to expand access to reliable legal services for the immigrant community, to educate the immigrant population about U.S. Law and to educate the general public about legal difficulties encountered by immigrants in this country. If you are an undocumented worker who recently lost your job, you may be eligible for cash unemployment assistance regardless of immigration status through the Benefits Recovery Fund (BRF). And if approved, clients may be eligible for up to $809/week for 13 weeks.

Eligibility Criteria: Cash assistance is available to undocumented clients who’ve recently lost their employment. Specifics of eligibility include:
- Live in the state of Colorado
- Are 16 years or older at the time of application
- Can provide proof of identity (e.g.,unexpired driver’s license, other identity card, non-US passport, etc.)
- Left your job through no fault of your own
- Have a W-2 and/or a pay stub that show income earned and taxes withheld (either be in your legal name or in a name that you work under)
- Have a valid ITIN or SSN (without work authorization)
- No work authorization due to immigration status.
- You are only eligible for the Benefit Recovery Fund if you do not have work authorization due to your immigration status.
Application/Intake Process: You can apply online HERE. Filling out the application on your own is the fastest way to complete it. But, if you need help filling out the entire application (by phone or in-person, depending on your location), you can:
Request one-on-one help below by creating your BRF account and then select "I'd like assistance." Follow the instructions to submit your request and our support team will contact you within 3 days to set up an appointment.

Callers can use the 24-7 hotline either to report ongoing ICE activity or to document a past experience with ICE. If the call is for current activity, trained volunteers will respond at the scene to document the activity and ensure that all those involved know their rights.

- If an ICE raid is occurring, volunteers will record the event, seek to identify the agents participating, and remind those involved of their constitutional rights.
- After the incident, if possible, volunteers will follow up to connect you with a local member of CIRC’s statewide DocuTeam, who will work with you to document the event and refer you to legal resources if necessary.
