What are Peer services?

Peer services refer to support and assistance provided by individuals who have personal experience with homelessness, substance misuse, and/or mental health challenges. Peers, also known as peer support specialists or peer mentors, offer unique insights and understanding based on their own lived experiences. These services can include one-on-one support, group activities, advocacy, education, and mentoring. Peer services aim to promote recovery, build resilience, and provide a sense of community for individuals facing similar challenges, fostering hope and empowerment along the journey to wellness.
