Lifeline Program - TDS Telecommunications
TDS provides a monthly discount on communication services which may include broadband internet, phone (landline or wireless), or bundles to eligible low-income households.

Low-Cost Internet Plan - PCs For People

PCs For People provides a Low-Cost Internet Plan for low-income individuals needing internet connectivity in their households. A modem with unlimited 4G LTE internet service is provided to connect those using this program to the internet.

- This program helps people with income at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines.
- Must be below the 200% poverty level or be currently enrolled in an income-based government assistance program.

Eligibility Criteria:
- Their income is at or below 80% Area Median Income (varies by county).
- To qualify for assistance: you must pay home energy costs directly to an energy vendor/utility, your bill is past due or you are running low on fuel, you must meet income qualifications. ​

- Apply For their Bill Payment Assistance through their Partnered Agencies, which can be found on this website by entering your zip code to find an agency that serves your area.

Black Hills Energy Assistance Program (BHEAP) - Black Hills Corporation
The Black Hills Energy Assistance Program (BHEAP) provides bill-payment assistance to eligible residential customers who are enrolled in the program. Income-qualified residential customers can receive financial assistance through the Black Hills Energy Assistance Program or BHEAP.

Eligibility Criteria: In order to be accepted into the program, customers must meet certain eligibility requirements:
- Must be a Black Hills Energy electric or gas customer in Colorado.
- Must participate in the Colorado Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) regardless of heating fuel type; or, must have applied to Colorado LEAP with an eligible household income.
- Must have a household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
- Must accept Budget Billing.
Application/Intake Process: 
- Apply by completing the online application. It is easier and faster to complete applications online if possible.
- For a printed application, pick up one at a local assistance agency listed below or call Customer Service at 888-890-5554
- You’ll be notified by mail when your application has been processed.

Affordable Housing - Elevation Community Land Trust
Elevation CLT prioritize keeping current residents in their neighborhoods, and it will help put homeownership in reach for low-income families that otherwise could not afford to purchase homes. By focusing on family-friendly housing types such as single-family homes and townhomes, Elevation CLT will help parents secure stable, safe housing, helping their families thrive today and tomorrow.

Mercy Housing provides a wide range of affordable, low-income apartment rental opportunities across the United States. Our housing services are available for families, seniors and people with special needs, including those with developmental disabilities, HIV/AIDS, formerly homeless individuals and Veterans.

The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation assists people with disabilities to succeed at work and live independently. Our vision is that people with disabilities are essential to the success of Colorado's workforce and communities. We help individuals with disabilities prepare for, obtain, advance in, and maintain employment by providing a range of services based on your individual employment needs and goals. Rehabilitation Counselors will work closely with you to determine an employment goal and identify and arrange for the services that will be needed to achieve this goal.

Medical:

Elderly, Blind, and Disabled Waiver (EBD) - State of Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing
Waiver For Persons Who Are Elderly, Blind, or Disabled (EBD) is a program to provide an alternative to nursing facility care for elderly, blind, or physically disabled persons.

Services Provided: State benefit resources, senior and disability resources.
Eligibility Criteria: You must meet the following financial and program criteria to access services under this program. To use waiver benefits, you must also be willing to receive services in your home or community.
Level of Care
- You require long-term support services at a level comparable to services typically provided in a nursing facility.
Eligibility Group
- You must be 18 years or older.
- If you are between the ages of 18 and 64, you must be blind or have a physical disability, or have a diagnosis of HIV or AIDS.
- If you are age 65 and older, you must have been determined to have a significant functional impairment.
Financial
- Your income must be less than three times the current Federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) limit per month. (See SSI website for current information)
- For a single person, your countable resources must be less than $2,000.
- For a couple, the countable resources must be less than $3,000.
- If you do not meet these financial requirements, you may be eligible through the Health First Colorado Buy-In Program for Working Adults with Disabilities.

If you are already enrolled in Health First Colorado, contact your local Case Management Agency to start the waiver application process.
If you are NOT yet enrolled in Health First Colorado, you can apply now.

Selma Schimmel Vital Grant -Vital Options International (VOI)
The grant program will assist those facing a significant financial hardship due to the diagnosis of a chronic, terminal or rare condition such as cancer, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s Disease or many others.

Dollar For helps you apply for financial assistance from your hospital. Our services are completely free & here to assist you in reducing your medical bills.

Food Assistance:

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) - Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments (UAACOG)
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that provides people living on a low income with extra food each month at no cost. TEFAP provides ten to twelve items of emergency food once a month.

Eligibility Criteria: You are eligible if you have a combined gross income that doesn't exceed the maximum income limit for the applicable household sizes listed HERE.
- Also, if you are a Colorado resident, you can automatically qualify for TEFAP if you're enrolled in any of the following programs: Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), SNAP (formerly Food Stamps), Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Old Age Pension (OAP), Ald to Needy Disables (AND), Ald to Blind (AB), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid Eligible Foster Children.
Application/Intake Process: 
- Once you've confirmed you're eligible through their income guideline, you can directly pick up food at their Distribution location @ 801 Main Street Cañon City, Colorado 81212 
- Enter through the alley off of 8th Street from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (or until food is gone)
- There are two distributions each month on Mondays and Wednesdays
Wait Time: If you're eligible, you can pick up food immediately at their location.

 

Food Pantry - Manna House of Fremont County
The food pantry provides quality food items to households experiencing food insecurity. This program supplies critical nutrition to hungry individuals and families.

Eligibility Criteria: Must be residing in Fremont County. They will check your ID to confirm your address for this. You are *not* required to be low-income.​
Application/Intake Process: If you are new to the program you'll need:
- Your ID that states your address. This is how they will confirm you live in Fremont County.
- You will enroll for their services: where you provide your ID & household size so they can make sure they provide you will the proportional amount of food for your family.
After enrollment, you will be provided with a card you can use in the future to access their food pantry/thrift store.  You will be provided 1 food box per month (amount of food is dependent on household size). Your card will also give you access to discounted prices on their thrift store (specifically for household items and clothing).​
Wait Time: You can schedule a pick up time once you've enrolled in their services. 

 

EverGreen Boxes - Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR)
The EverGreen boxes, a program of Everyday Eats (also known an CSFP), is a USDA is designed to improve the health of low-income people at least 60 years of age, by supplementing their diets with nutritious foods.

To find a food distribution near you, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Enter your city and ZIP Code in the “Address” section.
Step 2: Select the day of the week you are looking for food under “Days Open.”
Step 3: Select which type of program you are looking for, or choose “All Program Types.”
Step 4: Click “Submit” button.  
Wait Time: If you're eligible or enrolled, you can schedule food pickup or drop off relatively quickly. Turn around time depends on your location and how close you are to their sites.

 

Food Pantry - Colorado Health Network (CHN)
The food pantry provides quality food items to households experiencing food insecurity. This program supplies critical nutrition to hungry individuals and families.

Call their number to schedule an appt with a case manager. Bring your proof of diagnosis (most recent lab or document from doctor) for your appointment.​
Wait Time: Within 1 day once you've enrolled in their services.
